Have you ever considered using an interior designer to help you create
your dream home? Sophie, one of the Home Design Stylists at John
Lewis & Partners Edinburgh, tells us how she got into interior design
 and her key design influences.

How did your creative journey begin? Harlequin Air
I have always been drawn to all creative
pursuits and was always encouraged to
experiment and try new techniques and
styles of art when at school. This led to me
studying Textiles at Edinburgh College of
Art until 2019, before undertaking a Masters
          in Design Management and graduating
in December 2022. I now work within the
Home Design team at John Lewis & Partners
Edinburgh, whilst also creating my own
          textile-based artworks and screenprints, as
well as doing freelance design work.

Which textiles are you drawn to just
          now?
At the moment, I am really liking the a painting. My final collection at university
Sanderson Arboretum collection which was focused on similar themes of inspiration:
just launched this spring, in particular the including nature, water and the weather. So
Ancient Canopy design. I also really like the I’d say I am always drawn to soft, ethereal
new Harlequin Colour 4 collection, with the designs that are both calming yet dramatic
Air design being a favourite – it’s almost like at the same time.
