INTERIORS INSIDER
Why are
wallpapers
making a comeback?
Suzanne Carr, Partner and Home Design Stylist at
John Lewis & Partners Edinburgh explains explains how
homeowners are embracing colour and pattern.
his year saw green replace
John Lewis Tropical Palm grey as the new neutral and
mural, £100 T this trending colour has seen
customers at John Lewis move away
from grey tones and embrace colour
and pattern in the home across
furniture, accessories, paint and
wallpaper.
In wallpaper, the biggest trends for
2023 leaned towards bigger patterns
and bolder colours.
Wallpaper adds depth and interest on
an otherwise flat wall. We are seeing
large scale repeated patterns, murals,
and textures, such as grasscloth,
hessian and reed effect, all adding
another dimension to our rooms.
Bold colour prints are the focus with
matching fabrics for upholstery and
curtains, a vivid myriad of fauna and
flora and murals that capture vast
scenes of tropical jungles, exotic birds
and deserted beaches.
